Dental Health Services

FSC and its community partners — Palmetto Health Alliance, Palmetto Healthy Start, United Way of the Midlands and DHEC — operate four dental programs for a variety of groups within the community.

The Children’s Dental Clinic

The Children's Dental Clinic is a volunteer service for children within Richland and Lexington Counties. The clinic operates during the school year and the first appointment must be made by the school nurse.

Only children meeting the following criteria are eligible for the program:
  • Enrolled in public school
  • Eligible for free or reduced lunch
  • Cannot have a Medicaid
  • Cannot have dental insurance

The Medicaid Children’s Dental Clinic

The Medicaid Children’s Dental Clinic serves children 5-18 years old living in Richland County. Children needing services must have a current Medicaid card and the first appointment must be made by the child's parent/guardian

The Adult Dental Clinic

The Adult Dental Clinic serves low-income adults (at least 21 years old) who live in Richland County. Adults must have a current Medicaid card (or obtain a referral) and have no other form dental insurance. Adults seeking service must be able to provide proof of financial need and the first appointment must be made by the referring agency or the Medicaid recipient.

The Pregnancy Periodontal Clinic

The Pregnancy Periodontal Clinic is for pregnant women in Richland County. To qualify for the service, clients must:

  • Be pregnant and be a client of record at 1801 OB/GYN Clinic
  • Have a dental screening to be diagnosed with periodontal disease
